That's a really narrow view when you say the Big East is an albatross.

Second, UConn was a 4 seed in 2023. Kansas got beat by the 8 seed Arkansas to open the bracket up for us.

Third....IF the league is as bad as you're stating it could be, then WINNING ALL THE GAMES should not present a problem.

Fourth - what, exactly, are you advocating for here? The SEC, Big 12, and Big 10 have ranked better overall as conferences for the last 10 years. Yet they win no more than the top level Big East teams have. If you're concerned about the fact that UConn was an 8 seed this year - they earned that by losing 3 games in Maui, dropping games at home to SJ and Creighton, and losing on the road at Villanova and Seton Hall. If they had won 2 of those games, particularly the last place playoff in Maui or the road game at Seton Hall, this team would have been sitting on the 4 or 5 seed line. They didn't. If the conference overall had been 'better', it's highly likely that this team would have lost another 3 games and been outside looking in just like Nova was.

The issue here is that the SEC/Big conferences were able to 'pad' their NET/KenPom ranking because they play more Q1 games in conference, and feast on lesser comp early on. Well, if UConn is playing Q2 games in conference, they need to win them....and then play the Q1 games early on and win those, or at least split them. Going winless in a non-conference schedule against Q1 teams is still better than playing cupcakes and just winning.

The other thing that should be pointed out is that metrics show you need to keep your foot on the gas when you're playing. Too often this team would back off when victory was secured, and those metrics factor in to the NET and KenPom formulas.

I think Dan Hurley is a great coach, but what are we teaching our children? If you listen to UConn it's that you whine and blame the refs when you lose. I didn't see any egregiously bad calls by the refs in the Florida game. Plus, any reporter worth his salt would have reported what he said in the tunnel. It wasn't a private conversation.

Dan Hurley being quoted on a hot mic is really low on the bar of 'things to worry about teaching our children'.

With all the nonsense that goes on in the game, you should start there. Then why don't you worry about the coaches and players leaving for whoever waves a dollar in front of them. After that, you can worry about the list of coaches who have no moral or ethical compass. If, after you sort through all of that, you're still worried about a coach calling out what he feels was bad officiating....congratulations. Take a look at twitter and the outrage that ensued by people who thought Derik Queen traveled.
