Early in the season, UConn tore through a challenging non-conference slate undefeated, leaving fans intoxicated by the possibilities of a team that was looking like a legit Final Four contender.
A lot has changed since then.
Road losses to Xavier and Providence, totally excusable on their own, kicked off a stretch where UConn lost five of six and six of eight games. The next losses included some painful ones: at home to St. John’s, a school that is not in UConn’s stratosphere, at Seton Hall after leading by 14 at halftime, and at home to Xavier after the visitors started 9-0 and Andre Jackson went 0-7 in the first four minutes.
The Huskies have won two in a row to claim their first winning streak since December, but those wins were not without their own drama, and a massive test awaits tonight as they host Marquette at the XL Center.
In this episode, The Fast Break Podcast crew breaks down the Huskies’ recent performances, including the emergence of Tristen Newton and the slippage of the defense, and previews the Marquette matchup.
Enjoy!
