Solomon Ball is a serious hooper
"He's here with a purpose," head coach Dan Hurley said. "He's gonna have a great year for us."
The UConn freshmen will be filling important roles across the rotation for this year’s men’s basketball team, and Solomon Ball may be one of the keys to the season. His coaches and family have great expectations for him out of the gate.
“He’s got a great pedigree,” head coach Dan Hurley said. “Great parents that have pushed him and have held him accountable, and have established a work ethic and a standard with him. He’s got great body language when you’re coaching him.
“He’s here with a purpose, he’s not just kinda wandering around campus.”
The 6-foot-3 guard hails from Leesburg, Virginia and was a top-60 recruit before committing to UConn. In his senior year at Brewster Academy in New Hampshire, Ball averaged 16.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game and was also named First Team All-NEPSAC Class AAA in addition to being an Iverson Classic selection and McDonald’s All-American nominee.
Ball said he believes his versatility will help him make an impact for Hurley’s squad.
“I can guard a bunch of different positions…[and] shoot off the ball,” he shared. “I’m just always ready to play whenever. So wherever coach needs me to be, I’ll try to be there and help my team.”
