Scouting Report: What Cam Spencer brings to UConn
The experienced transfer was tied for the scoring lead at Rutgers last year.
The UConn Huskies have made it official: highly-coveted Rutgers transfer Cam Spencer will be taking his talents to Storrs for the upcoming college basketball season. He will likely slot immediately into a starting role and be asked to help out a squad that is losing a lot of shooting and scoring ability from last year’s team.
“He brings a unique combination of high-level skill and feel for the game, with a fierce competitiveness that has allowed him to enjoy a terrific college basketball career thus far,” Hurley said in a statement from the school.
Primarily known as a shooter, Spencer made a name for himself at Loyola Maryland before transferring to compete at a higher level in the Big Ten. As a grad transfer, Spencer qualifies for immediate eligibility and undoubtedly has his sights set on a deep tourney run. His addition to Dan Hurley’s squad means the Huskies have a very good chance of making good on that goal.
Here’s a deeper look at some of Spencer’s game film from last year.
